On Thursday, 3rd June, 2010, AKU-ISMC hosted a cluster launch event at the Ismaili Centre, London, to showcase its 3 series of academic publications.
Entitled, Then & Now: Pluralism through the Ages, the event featured a key lecture delivered by Dr Abdou Filali-Ansary, previously founding director and now Senior Professor at AKU-ISMC. An audience of over 150 people attended the event.
Dr Farouk Topan, Interim Director of AKU-ISMC, gave a brief introduction to the Institute and its role in creating a space for generating new ways of thinking about Muslims, their heritage and their traditions.

In his address, Dr Filali-Ansary, examined the notion of Pluralism within the framework of knowledge construction and the historicity of the human condition. His lecture was followed by an enthusiastic Q&A, from which interesting discussions ensued.
